South Molton United C of E Primary School – Open Days

South Molton United Church of England JUNIOR School
is soon to become
South Molton United Church of England PRIMARY School!

Uniquely Different, United Together, Universally Prepared
At South Molton United Church of England Primary School,
children have a sense of belonging in a supportive, happy environment,

where their range of talents will be nurtured, enabling them to flourish and achieve excellence.
Every child is valued as a unique person and can develop their sense of discovery, expectation and wonder.

South Molton C of  E Junior School understands that choosing the right school for your child is a big decision for parents, so to help with this process they would like to invite you to one of their open sessions so you can see their school in action.

School Open Sessions will take place on Friday 20th November 9.45-10.45am and Tuesday 1st December 9.45-10.45am, 2-3pm and 5-6pm

The school in 2016 is to become a primary school and will relocate to a new purpose built building at Exeter Gate.  This new facility will have extensive grounds and will provide fantastic new opportunities for your children, such as outdoor learning and sporting clubs.

Tel: 01769 572656 or Email: admin@south-molton-junior.devon.sch.uk to find out more about the open sessions and how to submit your application.

The school says; We know that our situation is unique to a school and understand that potential new parents would like to know what is happening in the future.  We have put together some questions and answers to try and address some of the things we think parents would be interested in.  This is information as it is now and as development of our new building progresses we will update our school community further.  We will do this via letters to the pre-schools and childcare businesses, on our school newsletter and via the school’s website www.south-molton-junior.devon.sch.uk We encourage parents to contact us and we will do our very best to answer any questions.

Some questions have already been asked so here they are with answers for you.

Will there be provision at our current school for reception children should the new school not be ready in September 2016?
The new build is not going to be ready for September 2016.  The school has been in talks with the various agencies involved and plans are being put in place to accommodate reception children at our current site.  We anticipate that the new build will be ready to hand over in December 2016. Some works will be required at our current site to make a safe and secure environment for our reception children, including a dedicated entrance, outside play area and toilets, these works will happen in the summer holiday 2016.

Reception children integrating with other children (the reception to Year 3 split)
The reception children will have their own dedicated provision and areas. However, they will be integrated with the other children in the school so they take full part in school life. They will attend collective worship, take part in school performances and have opportunities to work with older children as appropriate.

Will there be  provision for more than 1 reception class?
Yes, if demand is there we will be opening two reception classes from September 2016.

Reception teaching staff—Are there any in place at present?
The school currently has a dedicated hard working team and some of these staff have reception experience.  In December an advert will be going out to appoint an experienced reception teacher to set-up and manage the Early Years part of the school.  The appointment will start in April 2016 to give the new member of staff plenty of time to get everything ready for September.  He/she will also visit pre-schools and childcare providers to introduce themselves to parents and get to know the children. There will also be opportunities for parents to meet the reception teacher and staff to ensure your child gets off to the very best start.
