EXMOOR FLAG FINALISTS AND PUBLIC VOTE
Now it is your chance to say which design should become the Exmoor Flag to be registered as an official United Kingdom flag by The Flag Institute and flown forever more. You can vote online at www.exmoorflag.co.uk/vote-online by following the instructions on the left hand side of the page to register. Alternatively you can vote by post, either by filling in the form published in the local press or by printing off the form below.
It is vital that everyone who cares for the unique beauty of Exmoor and its community should take a moment to select the best flag and cast their vote. So please, if you know of someone who isn’t aware of the project to create the Exmoor Flag or doesn’t have access to a computer, do print off a copy of the voting form for them or they can simply write their name and address and tell us the letter of the flag they wish to vote for. Postal entries can be sent to: Exmoor Flag Project, The Old Stores, Brushford, Somerset, TA22 9AH.Voting closes at midnight on the 10th September 2014.The finalists’ designs have been adapted to conform to The Flag Institute’s criteria but the essence of the original concept has been retained.Huge efforts have been taken to create a stag that accurately represents the famous Exmoor Red Deer Stag. Using the same stag also puts each flag with this symbol on a level playing field, so voters are not making their selection based purely on the style of the stag drawing.
Information about the individual finalists’ flags can be found on the Exmoor Flag website including the designers’ rationales along with the judges’ comments.
Unveiling Ceremony, Prizes & Gallery – Plans are coming together for an Exmoor Flag celebration day on Wednesday 29th of October which start with the unveiling of the winning flag at a special ceremony.
Much fanfare and excited flag waving is expected as the winner of the flag design is presented with the magnificent prize of the very first Exmoor Flag hand-made on Exmoor, along with a hamper full of Exmoor produce and crafts, vouchers for visitor attractions and meals at some of Exmoor’s finest pubs and restaurants. All of this has been donated by dozens of supportive local businesses.
The Exmoor Flag Project Team have been thrilled (and relieved!) by the enthusiasm and support for this historic project to create the official flag for Exmoor. We would like to thank all the entrants for their wonderful designs, clearly showing a passion for this unique corner of the country.
